It’s Official, This is The Best Way to Get Around Montreal!

Never walking again!

Guys, there’s big news in the world of transportation in Montreal this week. As any true Montreal student knows, Bixis are the best. Whether you grab a bike to head to school, get to a friend’s house, or to explore your city, the convenience of Bixi stations all around the city is invaluable. The only unpleasant part of Bixi’s price system is the $100 deposit fee and the fact that a credit card is required to go through with the bike rental. Unfortunately, these requirements have stopped countless tentative Bixi renters, time and time again.

toronto-bixi-launch

Luckily, that’s all about to change. This week a joint effort between Bixi and STM was announced. In simpler words, Montreal transportation and Bixi have teamed up to offer a deal for all Montrealers. Now, with the ownership of an OPUS card, any individual is free to rent a Bixi directly from their card! Not only will this increase accessibility for all users, but it means a fundamental switch in their price model. For instance, when renting a Bixi with your Opus card;

  • No more Credit Cards!
  • No $100 Deposit!
  • No Wait times!

Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it’s not (thank god). In fact, getting access to the 540 participating Bixi stations is as simple as registering your Opus card on the Bixi site. Register and ride!
